Track brings home six first-place finishes from Arkansas
The Ragin’ Cajuns track and field team posted six first-place finishes overall in a solid performance at the A-State Scarlet and Black Invitational on Saturday in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
The meet was hosted by Arkansas State and included UALR, Ole Miss, Grambling, Murray State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Harding and Arkansas Baptist.
Junior Kelci Lyons recorded a pair of first-place finishes. She led the Cajuns to a 1-2 finish in the women’s 800-meter dash after edging teammate Danielle Castaldi. She also ran the opening leg of the distance medley relay team that included Kaitlyn Moreau, Castaldi and Ashley Irwin and claimed first-place honors.
The Cajun men earned a 1-2 finish in 55-meter hurdles as Morgan Cormier edged Tyler Hughes. The team earned two other first-place finishes with Matt Rice claiming the 800 meters and Sean Bezdek the 5,000-meter run.
Lindsey Harmon earned the crown in the women’s high jump with a mark of 5 feet, 5 inches. The Cajuns earned second-place finishes in the men’s high jump, 200-meters, 5,000-meters and the men’s 4×400-meter relay team.
Louisiana will return to action on Friday when it travels to Lake Charles to compete in the Jeff Davis Invitational. The meet is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
