STUDENT THEFT ARREST UPDATE
On March 23, the UL Lafayette Police Department received a tip regarding suspicious activity surrounding the use of the Society for Peace, Environment, Action & Knowledge (SPEAK) organization’s funds. At the time of the initial report, the complainant was unsure the purpose of the withdrawals made from the account. Through the investigation Interim President Zoe Huval was
questioned regarding the withdrawals of the organizational funds. Evidence was obtained that indicated that it was Huval who withdrew the funds from the SPEAK account during a four month period, pocketing approximately $2,200 in organizational funds. Huval was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center for theft over $1,500.
STUDENT DRUG ARREST UPDATE
It was previously reported that Caleb Clanton was arrested for possession of schedule I, possession of schedule II narcotics, possession of schedule IV narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia. The ULPD have released that the police initially searched his vehicle and located approximately 4.3 grams of suspected marijuana. During the stop, police were tipped that Clanton may have additional illegal narcotics and/or paraphernalia in his dorm room. After a search warrant was obtained, police found Xanax, Vyvanse and various items of drug paraphernalia.
