Arrests made in alleged Sept. 25 staged robbery
The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Police Department arrested two 19-year-old men in a staged armed robbery.
Police arrested Brennan Anderson and Jacob Timothy and charged both men with conspiracy to commit armed robbery, possession with intent to distribute Xanax, possession of ecstasy, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal carrying of a firearm, in presence of a controlled dangerous substance and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
ULPD responded initially to a robbery Sept. 25, when the suspects allegedly stole a cellphone and $80 cash from a victim and his or her two friends near Cajun Village Apartments. However, police found that two of the three individuals who said they were robbed assisted in setting up the incident.
After executing a search warrant in the subjects’ off-campus residence, police found the stolen items as well as two handguns, marijuana, Xanax and ecstasy. Timothy and Anderson were booked into Lafayette Parish Correctional Center with bonds set at $77,000 and $58,000, respectively.
The case is still under investigation, with more arrests possible, according to ULPD.
