What if Zelensky's list of pro-Putin supporters was fake?

Zelensky’s list of Italian pro-Putinists does not exist. Not only. Zelensky never said he was preparing a list of Italian pro-Putinists. The news that has been going crazy online and in newspapers for a few days is fake news invented from scratch by Corriere della Serathe most prestigious newspaper in Italy which is now preparing to enter a storm.

No mention of lists of pro-Putin Italians, just a reference to unspecified Russians present in Italy, whose visas our government should cancel. While Zelensky pronounces these words, here are the subtitles broadcast, then commented by Lorenzo Cremonesi: “Meloni is on our side and we are deeply grateful to her. However, we know that in Italy there are many pro-Putinists, and in Europe too. We are preparing a list of them, not only regarding Italy, of Russian propagandists. It’s a long list and we want to present it to the European Commission, the European Parliament, the leaders of the EU, and the United States. Can you silence them? Can you make your public understand that Russia is not only a threat to Ukraine but to all of you? Are European societies ready for this challenge? I see that you Italians are not yetthe Germans and the others”.

This story raises some questions. If this is the accuracy with which the Corriere della Sera deals with foreign policy, is it right to also take economic analyses, internal political scoops, news regarding the war in Gaza or the US elections at face value? Lilli Gruber And Corrado Formigliwho usually give us their homilies against fake news, will they have the decency to bring to the public such an unfortunate fact for Italian journalism which necessarily involves their publisher? Marco Travagliowho would give his life for nothing but the truth to be published, will he make a correction after the correct translation of the interview was published in his newspaper, cunningly accompanied by the quotation of the invented subtitles?

And Mr Alessandro Di Battistatogether with the professor Alessandro Orsini, given their “extensive” knowledge of English, will they do the same in one of their usual television performances? We look forward together to the analyzes on the decline in sales of national newspapers.
